Sevens & Classics at Snetterton 200 – Round 2
May 24, 2017 11:43 amA week ago we arrived at a damp and blustery Snetterton in Norfolk for the second round of the Championship. This time our weekend went without any unwanted electrical issues. After the disappointments of Donington a neat and tidy lap put our little Caterham 8th on the grid at arguably the worst circuit for our cars characteristics.
A Caterham’s strengths are very much highlighted through corners. The lightweight principle of a Seven makes it awesome under braking, unbelievable changing direction and seriously quick out of corners. The compromise for this ability is a complete lack of straight line speed. This meant against cars 3 times the weight and power, at a circuit with few corners and lots of straights, we were very much on the back foot.
Another excellent first stint bettered our position to 5th with some great overtakes and a 10 lap battle with particularly well driven Seat Leon Super Cupra! With that battle finally won the second stint was lonely. Sadly 5 laps from the end we were caught and passed by a Porsche Boxter S which was far better suited to the long straights of Snetterton and had started from the pits. This meant we finished 6th overall and 3rd in class. All in all, a much improved weekend!
A special thanks to our excellent team and our sponsors: Full Circle Enterprises and Sevens & Classics LTD
The next round is being held at Silverston on Sunday the 4th of June.
